Employee Spotlight: Devon Aguirre
Devon Aguirre is a Barnard Equipment Supervisor for the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project and oversees equipment maintenance and scheduling. There are over 200 pieces of mobile equipment onsite at Chimney Hollow and the maintenance crews work 24 hours per day, seven days a week to keep the equipment in tip-top shape.
"Chimney Hollow is a rock job which is very hard on the equipment. Having good maintenance program is critically important to the project," said Northern Water's Principal Project Manager Joe Donnelly. Working with maintenance crews, Aguirre coordinates equipment assignments across the project to keep teams working efficiently.
With his time split between the office and field, his preference is fieldwork. Aguirre enjoys seeing progress in the various project areas.
“This is just a cool opportunity and I’m excited to see it come to fruition,” he said. “It’s awesome how this civil project has so many different features; my favorite being the mining at the quarry.”
Aguirre previously worked as a sub-contractor for Barnard and was then asked to join this project. Outside of the Chimney Hollow valley, he enjoys spending time outdoors camping or fishing in his spare time.
“I like to appreciate the beauty of Colorado whenever I can,” Aguirre said.
