Northern Water and the Municipal Subdistrict Continue Partnership with Learning by Doing

Grand County’s Learning by Doing (LBD) program has just released its 2021 annual report. LBD is a cooperative stakeholder group that addresses impacts from two water diversion projects that affect rivers in Grand County: Northern Water Municipal Subdistrict’s Windy Gap Firming Project and Denver Water’s Gross Reservoir Expansion Project. The annual report highlights LBD’s efforts from last year, including successful monitoring programs, coordinated water operations and more.

LBD is a cooperative effort of water stakeholders from both sides of the Continental Divide whose goal is to maintain, and, where possible, restore or enhance the aquatic environment of the Upper Colorado, Fraser and Williams Fork River basins.

The group of stakeholders emerged from intergovernmental agreements intended to address impacts from the two water diversion projects. LBD partners have an interest in protecting Grand County’s aquatic habitat, while also respecting the interests and legal responsibilities of each partner organization.

Northern Water and the Municipal Subdistrict are LBD partners and are on the management committee.
