Conservation Gardens Fair

No event scheduled in 2022
Northern Water headquarters

Started in 2011, the annual Conservation Gardens Fair allows the public to tour Northern Water’s award-winning gardens while simultaneously attending a free family-friendly event. Our Berthoud campus includes a 2.5-acre conservation garden where staff conducts plant, turf and irrigation studies, as well as educates the public about best practices for water efficient landscaping. This annual event includes how-to seminars, irrigation demonstrations, expert landscaping advice and fun activities designed just for kids. The gardens feature more than 700 Colorado-friendly perennials, turf and shrubs that provide beautiful, striking and climate-appropriate landscaping ideas for your home or business.

As our Conservation Gardens and Water Efficiency program have gained visibility, this event grows in popularity every year. Not only can the public connect with industry professionals for information and advice, but our partners find this event quite valuable for sharing their program details.

Spring Water Users Meeting

April 13, 2022, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Embassy Suites, Loveland

Each spring Northern Water meets with Colorado-Big Thompson Project allottees and water users to preview the upcoming water delivery and irrigation season, learn about current water and snowpack conditions, runoff and streamflow predictions, progress on future water projects and more. After a discussion of the region’s water outlook, attendees offered input about the 2022 C-BT quota. In addition, the meeting also provided an opportunity to learn about the latest activities being carried out by Northern Water, such as the construction of Chimney Hollow Reservoir and the restoration of lands damaged by the 2020 Colorado wildfires.

Water Efficiency Stakeholder Meeting

April 22, 2022, 9 a.m. to noon, Northern Water Headquarters

Northern Water hosted its annual Water Efficiency Stakeholder meeting to showcase results and stories of the 2021 Water Efficiency Program and to preview 2022 services. The first two hours provided 2021 results, previewed 2022 services and solicited feedback to help us determine future services. Highlights included an audit report on our commercial, institutional and industrial water audit pilot, as well as support for the Resource Central Slow the Flow Irrigation Auditing, a new Northern Water Garden in a Box, demonstration garden designs, messaging and more. In our final hour we learned how landscapes provide respite, peace and hope during war and today amidst Covid from a special keynote speaker Dr. Kenneth Helphand on Defiant Gardens: Making Gardens in Wartime.
