At Chimney Hollow, a full-time, on-site safety team provides proper training for all individuals and guidance on adhering to safety protocols. It is vital that all personnel feel safe and understand their right to shut down work if they feel unsafe. In essence, there are approximately 500 “safety officers” on-site daily because every employee is trained and responsible for safety.

National Construction Safety Week 2024: Value Every Voice
During the first week of May, the construction industry celebrates National Construction Safety Week. For its 10th anniversary year, the theme is “Value Every Voice. Encourage. Listen. Empower.” More than 70 national and global construction firms participate in National Construction Safety Week, intended to inspire the entire construction industry to be leaders in safety.
“As a project, we focus on the safety and well-being of each individual that comes onsite. Construction Safety Week is a week to celebrate safety and highlight different topics and activities for our crew members. Safety week is another tool companies can use to drive personal ownership of safety, encourage conversation and new ideas, by embracing everyone's voice to build a stronger safety culture,” said Barnard Construction Safety Manager Garris Buckaloo.
Chimney Hollow crews kicked off the week with an all-site safety meeting, followed by daily events including two surprise emergency drills and multiple demonstrations. An all-site demonstration wrapped up the week where a fully loaded 777 haul truck was backed onto a full-size pickup truck to demonstrate the importance of driver safety.
