Chimney Hollow Reservoir will be built using a traditional design-bid-build approach, issued as a single bid package for all construction. We will select a general contractor using a best-value, scored selection process from the list of prequalified general contractors.
Stantec is providing final design services for the project. Black and Veatch has been selected to provide third party construction management services (not as constructor) on behalf of the Subdistrict.
Prequalification – General Construction Contractors
Following a comprehensive Request for Qualifications process, the Windy Gap Firming Project has prequalified general contractors for the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project. The Public Announcement of the General Contractor Prequalification, including a list of the prequalified general contractors, is now available.
Prequalification - Hydraulic Asphalt Concrete (HAC) Contractors
The Windy Gap Firming Project Water Activity Enterprise has prequalified three HAC specialty contractors for the HAC portion of the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Dam. During bidding, general contractors shall subcontract with one of these prequalified HAC contractors. The Public Announcement of the HAC Prequalification, including a list of the prequalified specialty contractors, is now available.
In late 2018, Viedeke Industria AS informed the Windy Gap Firming Project Water Activity Enterprise that their company has made a corporate decision not to conduct business in the United States and therefore will not be participating in the Chimney Hollow Project.
Final design documents were submitted to the Colorado State Engineer’s Office, Division of Dam Safety in January 2019. We expect final approval of the design in mid-2019.
The Enterprise plans to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) to the prequalified general contractors via the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System on June 18, 2019. The draft procurement schedule, subject to change, is as follows:
