Glade Reservoir

A Smart, Sustainable Addition to Northern Colorado

With a planned capacity of 170,000 acre-feet, Glade Reservoir will be located northwest of Fort Collins, nestled in a valley carefully selected from more than 200 potential reservoir sites during NISP’s design and permitting process.

Glade Reservoir will capture water from the Poudre River, primarily during high-flow spring runoff periods. Water will be conveyed approximately 2 miles from the river near the mouth of the canyon to the off-channel reservoir through an inlet canal, forebay and pump plant.

Highway Realignment for Safety and Progress

The reservoir site is near the intersection of U.S. Highway 287 and State Highway 14, and overlaps with the current alignment of Highway 287. To accommodate the reservoir, approximately seven miles of Highway 287 will be relocated east. This realignment is more than a logistical necessity—it’s an opportunity to improve infrastructure. The new roadway will be designed using modern traffic safety standards and built to handle future traffic demands, enhancing long-term safety and reliability for the corridor.
