NISP Team Hosts Open House to Talk About Highway Move

Dozens of neighbors attended an open house earlier this month to learn more about the Northern Integrated Supply Project and its impacts on regional highway travel.

The open house on June 12 at the former KOA Campground near Ted’s Place brought together representatives from Northern Water, the Colorado Department of Transportation and the engineers designing a new stretch of U.S. Highway 287 that will replace the section of highway that will be inundated by the creation of Glade Reservoir. Construction is slated to begin in the next 18 months.

As part of the open house, engineers showed a new video rendering that offers a computer model of the highway design and path to reconnect the two segments left severed by the new reservoir’s ultimate construction. A GIS map of the highway relocation is available on the NISP website.
