Employee Spotlight: Dan Kugler

Project Manager Dan Kugler has spent his entire 27-year career with Black & Veatch working on water supply, storage, pumping, treatment, transmission, distribution projects and more. He has been involved with the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project since the initial contractor prequalification in 2018.

Kugler provides remote project support from Black & Veatch’s Denver office and visits the Chimney Hollow site monthly. His role covers construction management and quality assurance, particularly risk mitigation and change management processes.

In his role, Kugler also manages several other projects across Colorado. His variety of experiences provides value to Chimney Hollow and the different aspects of the project.

Kugler’s regular Chimney Hollow tasks include coordinating with the staff on site, evaluating and determining ways to mitigate potential risks on the project, receiving updates and providing support for the team and project to help it get to the finish line.

“Chimney Hollow is a long-duration project,” Kugler said. “Normally there would be a lot of staff turnover, but almost everyone has been on the job since the beginning, which is a testament to the high quality of individuals from each organization and the strong commitment to wanting to see this project be done well.”

He said the most exciting part of the project is getting to see a new dam built in Colorado.

“It’s great to be part of such a well-executed project that’s been in planning for a long time. I’m humbled to be part of such a great team.”

Kugler has been a Colorado resident since 2001 and currently lives in Monument, CO with his wife. They enjoy hiking, visiting national parks, traveling, cheering on their alma mater Kansas State and spending time with their two kids and daughter-in-law.
