Employee Spotlight: Austin Dunlap

Barnard Construction Quality Control Manager Austin Dunlap manages the construction team to ensure and document overall design compliance during the construction of the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project.

“For the people of Northern Colorado, who this reservoir will sustain, we are dedicated to any practice that ensures the reservoir is built exactly as designed, safely,” Dunlap said.

Collaboration is the key to success. Everything down to the office layout is designed to promote conversation between Dunlap's team and others working on the project. Mentorship is a large part of his role and seeing the growth and development of his teammates is a rewarding part of his job.

"No one person can do this. It takes a special team," Dunlap said. "It's an incredible feat. The people we are relying on come from all walks of life. Learning what motivates them and what it takes for them to be successful ultimately allows us to produce a quality product. It’s about the people. Their success is our success."

Previously, Dunlap worked on an Everglades restoration project with the Army Corps of Engineers in Florida, helped build processing facilities on the Houston Ship Channel and worked for several engineering and mining organizations.

When he’s not at work, Dunlap and his wife, Brandi, enjoy spending time with their children, Dakota and Archer. They spend their weekends bonding through church and family activities.

"My time is dedicated to my family and this project. It's an incredible privilege and honor to see this innovative and unique project come together over years of hard work," he said.
