A 158,200-pound CAT 374 excavator loads a CAT 740 haul truck with main dam embankment shell overburden. The overburden in this area (upstream of dam centerline) is being removed down to competent bedrock in preparation for the rockfill shell placement. 

The CAT 740 haul truck can have a maximum load of 40 tons, meaning that the CAT 374 can load the truck in three passes at 16 tons per bucket load.
