Municipal Subdistrict Enters into Allotment Contracts for Windy Gap Firming Project
The Windy Gap Firming Project reached an important milestone this month with the approval of allotment contracts with each of the 12 participants.
At its Nov. 12 meeting, the Municipal Subdistrict Board of Directors unanimously approved entering into the contracts that will guide the storage and delivery of water through Chimney Hollow Reservoir west of Carter Lake in Larimer County.
Each of the 12 participants had received approval of the contract in October and November through their respective city councils and boards of directors.
With the completion of the allotment contracts, the Windy Gap Firming Project Water Activity Enterprise was able to complete its contract with the Colorado Water Conservation Board for a $90 million subordinate loan that had been approved by legislation in 2018.
Barnard Construction is the contractor for the 90,000 acre-foot Chimney Hollow Reservoir, and work should commence in 2021.
