A former member of the Northern Water Board of Directors is being remembered for his dedication to his community and sharp legal skills to advocate for his clients.

Jerry Winters, 89, died July 9, 2024, at a hospital in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. From 1995 to 2015, Winters served on the Northern Water Board representing Weld County, where he was born and practiced law for 60 years.

Winters graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1958. In his lengthy career, he focused on sophisticated estate planning, real estate, corporate and general business law.

In addition to his work on the Northern Water Board, Winters also served his community as a member of the 19th Judicial District Nominating Committee, Colorado Estate Planning Council and the Weld County Bar Association, where he served as president.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Fred and his wife Kirsten, sister Dixie Hoffner and four grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
