Northern Water Board Approves 2026 Budget, Rates

The Northern Water Board of Directors approved the budget and assessment rates for fiscal year 2026, which begins on Oct. 1.

At the Aug. 7 meeting of the board, Directors approved the budget for Northern Water, along with budgets for the Southern Water Supply Project, Northern Integrated Supply Project, Pleasant Valley Pipeline and Northern Water Hydropower Water Activity Enterprise. In addition, the Municipal Subdistrict Board of Directors approved budgets for the Windy Gap Project and Windy Gap Firming Project.

Board members also heard about potential flattening of property tax revenues that comprise a significant portion of the organization’s overall revenue, as well as changes to assessments for Colorado-Big Thompson Project allotment contract unit holders. In addition, fees for some services provided by Northern Water will also be changing for fiscal year 2026.
