Water Delivery

Northern Water’s water delivery program encompasses the policies, tools and water management processes that help ensure Colorado-Big Thompson (C-BT) Project water is delivered efficiently and responsibly to allottees throughout the region. This includes annual C-BT quota setting by the Northern Water Board of Directors, which determines the amount of project water available for delivery each year, as well as the C-BT Tracking Rule, which provides guidance for managing, controlling, distributing and using C-BT water. 

Water delivery also includes a variety of programs that help water users manage their supplies from year to year. The Carryover Program allows undelivered water stored in Northern Water facilities to be carried into the next water year, while the Regional Pool Program enables allottees to lease water they do not need to other users for later use. Northern Water also provides rental water opportunities for those seeking to rent or make C-BT water available.
