Watershed Protection and Restoration

Protecting and Restoring Our Watersheds

Northern Water is engaged in a wide range of initiatives to protect and restore the landscapes that supply our water. Healthy watersheds are essential—they reduce risks to water quality, support ecosystem resilience and help safeguard critical infrastructure.

Our efforts to date include projects focused on wildfire recovery, headwaters restoration, and river connectivity—such as the Colorado River Connectivity Channel, which reconnects habitat and enhances aquatic ecosystems. All of these projects are carried out in collaboration with local, state and federal partners.

These initiatives complement our Source Water Protection Program and reflect a shared commitment to sustaining the health of the watersheds that serve Northern Colorado communities.
