Protecting River Health Through Collaboration
LBD focuses on identifying and addressing river health concerns through science-based monitoring, collaborative decision-making, adaptive management and targeted restoration projects. Through dedicated committees overseeing operations, monitoring, restoration planning and technical review, LBD coordinates funding, environmental enhancement flows, data collection and restoration efforts throughout nearly 200 miles of streams and rivers in Grand County.
LBD is guided by the principle that stakeholders can achieve better environmental outcomes by working together to understand changing river conditions and direct resources toward effective solutions. Current efforts include implementing the update Grand County Stream Management Plan, continued monitoring and incorporating new scientific knowledge into management actions.
The partnership is governed by a Management Committee representing Grand County, Northern Water, Denver Water, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Colorado River District, Middle Park Water Conservancy District and Trout Unlimited, with support from a broader Technical Committee composed of agency, utility and stakeholder representatives.
