Dale Trowbridge

Vice President, Northern Water

Weld County
Current Term: Sept. 28, 2023 - Sept. 28, 2027
Director Since: Aug. 15, 2014

Dale Trowbridge was appointed to the Northern Water and Municipal Subdistrict boards on Aug. 15, 2014. Currently he serves as the vice president of the District board and serves as chair of the Business and Finance Committee.

Trowbridge was general manager of the New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Company and its associated companies before retiring in 2025. He has over 32 years of experience managing irrigation and reservoir facilities and has been a farmer and cattle feeder in the region for many years.

He graduated from Eaton High School in Eaton, CO in 1977. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Industries Management from Colorado State University in 1981.

Besides the typical work associated with a ditch and reservoir company, (management of the facilities, staff and water portfolio of the companies), Trowbridge was involved in New Cache’s construction of the Cornish Plains Reservoir northeast of Greeley in 2005. The project provided an additional 3,000 acre-feet of water storage and increased the efficiency of the canal system. In 2016, New Cache also built a lined reservoir near the confluence of the Platte and Poudre that provides releases for return flows, irrigation and other uses.

Trowbridge assisted in the development of the augmentation plan for the Lower Poudre Augmentation Company. The decreed plan has enabled farmers to continue to pump water for irrigation. The company has added additional water assets to increase pumping quotas for the well owners and increase recharge capabilities.

During his tenure he was also a director of the Cache La Poudre Water Users Association, the Weld County Underground Water Users Association and the Poudre Runs Thru It Study/Action Group.

Dale and his wife, Marsha, have been married for over 45 years. They live near Eaton and have three married children and seven grandchildren. Dale and Marsha enjoy antiquing, travelling and finding lesser-known areas to explore.
