Advanced Irrigation Assessments Maximize Water Efficiency on Complex Systems

Optimizing water use is essential for sustaining healthy landscapes while conserving limited resources. Northern Water, in partnership with Verdantas, offers advanced irrigation assessments designed for complex commercial and municipal properties. These assessments are designed to ensure irrigation systems operate efficiently and sustainably while yielding optimal landscape utility.

Each comprehensive evaluation incorporates cutting-edge strategies and technologies to improve system performance and reduce water waste. Assessments include:

  • Historical water use analysis and water budgeting.
  • Hydraulic modeling and pressure loss analysis.
  • Alternative water source transitions/feasibility studies.
  • CLIA-certified catch can tests (irrigation audits) and irrigation scheduling recommendations.
  • Recommendations for irrigation and landscape improvements, opinions of probable cost and ROI calculations.
  • Customized reports and site visits to meet the water efficiency needs of the end user.

“Through our advanced irrigation assessments, we work with large-scale and complex irrigation systems for commercial users within Northern Water’s boundaries to optimize irrigation efficiencies,” said Spencer Bernard, water efficiency specialist at Northern Water. “Verdantas provides additional expertise and resources to identify water-saving opportunities and provide logical steps for the end user to take, maintaining or improving landscape quality.”

Beyond identifying inefficiencies, advanced irrigation assessments provide owners with a clear, actionable roadmap for next steps. By pairing system performance data with opinions of probable cost and ROI timelines, the report helps users prioritize improvements, plan capital investments and make informed decisions that align water savings with landscape goals. This process reduces guesswork while supporting long-term budgeting, and even ensures resources are directed toward the most impactful strategies.

Commercial and municipal water users can also leverage these assessments as part of Northern Water’s Water Efficient Landscape Grant application process.
