Kyle Whitaker Wins Statewide Award from Water Education Colorado

Northern Water’s Kyle Whitaker has been awarded the Greg Hobbs Next Wave Leadership Award from Water Education Colorado.

During a presentation on Sept. 9, Whitaker received the award in front of more than 100 people at Balistreri Vineyards in Denver. Named after Colorado Supreme Court Justice – and former Northern Water counsel – Greg Hobbs, the award “honors recent work by a young Colorado professional to strengthen and improve water education in the state,” according to Water Education Colorado. In 2024, Water Education Colorado renamed the award as the Greg Hobbs Next Wave Leadership Award to honor Hobbs, who was the longtime vice president and publications chair of Water Education Colorado at the time of his death in 2021.

General Manager Brad Wind introduced Whitaker and noted many of his attributes to Colorado water. Whitaker spoke about his work and family lives, and he offered a reading of a poem in the style of Hobbs’.
