Water Quality Data Now Available Online

Accessing and navigating Northern Water’s water quality datasets is now easier than ever. Northern Water recently expanded its online data portal to include its water quality monitoring records.   

For years, Northern Water has prioritized making its water quality data available to the public, through previous portal versions, online features and direct requests. With water quality records now integrated into the portal, alongside flow and weather data, users now have new tools to explore, visualize and download water quality information.  

In addition to the recent inclusion of water quality data, Northern Water also updated and relocated its documentation to the organization’s website, providing updated guides, FAQs and how-to resources that improve the overall experience for users. 

There’s no shortage of water quality data for the public to explore on the portal. Northern Water’s robust water quality program, which dates back to 1991, collects data from about 150 monitoring sites throughout the Colorado-Big Thompson Project’s collections and distribution systems, as well as in adjacent watersheds. The programs examine a myriad of parameters, including nutrients, metals, temperature, clarity, phytoplankton, zooplankton, salinity, macroinvertebrates, post-fire impacts and compounds of emerging concern (CECs), among others.
