This summer's drought conditions, reduced water supplies and extreme temperatures have taken a toll on landscapes across Colorado, leaving many residents rethinking their outdoor spaces.
To help, Northern Water and The Colorado Sun are partnering to host a free interactive event on Saturday, Sept. 26, focused on practical, water-wise landscaping solutions for homes, businesses and community spaces. The event will be held at Northern Water headquarters, 220 Water Ave. in Berthoud. Registration is available at Colorado Sun Events.
Titled “Drought Killed Your Lawn. Now What?”, the event begins at 10 a.m. with a panel discussion moderated by Colorado Sun water reporter Shannon Mullane. Local experts, including Michael Guidi, manager of horticulture research at Denver Botanic Gardens, will share insights on successful water conservation strategies and landscape alternatives.
Following the discussion, attendees can tour Northern Water's Conservation Gardens to explore demonstrations featuring native plants, efficient irrigation systems and turf alternatives. Northern Water Water Efficiency staff will also be available to answer questions and provide practical tips for creating resilient, water-wise landscapes.
